KNOWN PROBLEMS (program external):
----------------------------------

- Some games return an error message if frequencies are
  set too high.

- Windows resolutions are unavailable if their frequencies
are set higher than supported by the display (PnP
  displays).

- Older and non-Pnp monitors may take damage from
frequencies that are too high for them.

- The TV-/Video-Output might be unavailable, since the
resolutions and frequencies for TV output modes are
  quite low.

FAQ:
----

- Q: What is the purpose of this program?
A: To recover an error "manually " which occurs with
some 3DFX driver version on some systems. For
more details view the "function" help section.

- Q: There are new drivers out from 3DFX. What shall I
     do now?
Do I have to do something special if I want to
     install them?
A: New drivers sounds always good, so go and see
what has changed in the new version. There will
surely have been some bugs removed or the card's
     performance increased.
Install the new driver as you normally would.
After this, you first should check out if the
     problem has remained.
If it has, then create a new file with the
original registry settings via "Settings" -->
     "Create" before making any changes.

- Q: The export after installation of a new driver
     fails! What can Ido?
A: Open for the Registry editor (REGEDIT.EXE), and
     check whether the path
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet
     \Services\3dfxvs\Device0\TIMINGS
still exists. If not, there might have been great
changes to the driver's basic structure.
Test whether the error still occurs.
If it still does: Do not use the Registry values
of an old driver version. Wait, until a new
     program version appears.
     Use only original 3DFX drivers!

- Q: The attempt to apply the new settings fails. The
program shows an error concerning the file
     containing the original Registry setting.
A: There can be several reasons for this.
First, check out wether there are no other programs
opened, which could access this path of the Registry
as well, e.g. 3DFX Tools (not the symbol in the task
bar), another graphics tool or perhaps also only a
further instance of this program (opened twice).
Otherwise could it to be that the file containing
the original Registry values is corrupted or damaged
(or not created with this program?).
Use only real .RHF files, no renamed, other formats.
At last, you might be logged on with a user that has
     little up to no rights.

- Q: Can I use normal .REG files as a source for the
     original values?
A: No, this function is not designated (at the present),
since .REG files have a completely different
structure. .RHF files created by this program must be
used. These are created and read by a Windows API
function, not by the "normal" Registry editor.

- Q: Can I use the program on Windows 95, 98 or ME
     systems?
A: No, this is not intended and even impossible.
Since the program has to adjust its rights towards
Windows 2000, it uses WinNT-specific functions in
several cases, and that for it shows an error message
after startup when run under Win9x.
After all, the values are stored differently, and the
problem is unknown under these operating systems to
     me.

- Q: Certain Windows resolutions are unavailable.
A: Probably the frequencies for these have been set too
high. Fix this by reducing the values. If necessary,
use "default values" and apply them.

- Q: Windows does not start up or only in 640x480.
A: Sounds like all the resolutions have been assigned
much too high frequencies. Reduce the values again
(if necessary in the safe / VGA mode, which can be
started after the BIOS by pressing [ F8 ]).

- Q: I do not know which frequencies / resolutions my
     monitor can handle.
A: Look for it in the display's manual.
If you have a fairly new monitor, Windows should
detect them automatically, so you can look them up
under the display properties in the control panel.
You should eventually look for a display driver and
     install it.
If you are not sure, wether the values shown are
correct or not, test it out with the desktop
resolutions. Select only one at a time and increase
     the frequency in steps.

- Q: Can my monitor handle all the resolutions /
     frequencies the program shows up?
A: No, the values displayed here are the ones that a
Voodoo3/4/5 graphics card can display (identical on
all of these cards), not those of your monitor!

- Q: Are other graphics cards (non-3DFX cards) supported
by this program? I have the same problem with a
     NVidia card!
A: All versions up to this one do not.
This might be a feature for upcoming versions.
NVidia cards would probably be the first to be
     supported.

- Q: I do not understand what this program is good for,
what a "resolution", "frequency" or the strange
"Registry" is. Is it a calculating program
     (1024*768=60Hz)?
A: Ohoh, close this window and the whole program, and
simply learn to live with the fact that this is a
     program for advanced users only...
